I have always made chaklis with bhajani, using a very authentic Marathi recipe. After eating my chaklis for a few years, my friends encouraged me to make bhajani for them. By word of mouth the taste of my chaklis spread in the Chicago area and I got an opportunity to make chakli bhajani, thalipeeth bhajani, upas bhajani etc. for the people in my community. The effort was very well appreciated. Then the demand started coming for not just bhajani, but ready-made chaklis too. So I started selling chaklis. In 2014, before Diwali season, I got many orders through my Facebook page from all over the country. I received very good feedback from everybody. My recipe of bhajani is my mother-in-law’s recipe. She is 95 years old. She has tested this recipe for at least 60 years.
Later I added ladoos, and chivada. This tradition will continue this year too.
